About Chris

I didn't learn technology in a classroom.

It started with a PC my stepbrother won from a radio contest and an AOL connection that changed everything. I wasn't just a user. I wanted to know how it worked and, more importantly, how to break it. That led me to modding game consoles, repairing phones, and flashing custom firmware on Androids. Each thing I broke taught me more than any manual could.

When broadband showed up, I wanted everything connected. That pulled me into networking — how devices talk, how traffic moves, how to make a home or office actually function as a system. Once everything was connected the next question was obvious: what's running it all? That's when servers and open source software took over. I wanted to own my own stack, running everything on my own hardware with Linux, virtual machines, and Docker. That's where web design, custom apps, and self-hosted infrastructure came from — I was already building it for myself, so helping others do it was the natural next step.

I also come from a business and sales background, which means I get something a lot of tech people miss. Technology should work for your business, not get in the way of it. I can get into the weeds when needed but I know how to explain it without making you feel lost.
